KHOU-11 TEGNA’s Station of the Year and CBS affiliate in Houston, Texas is seeking a strategic leader to serve as the Director of Local Sales. Primary responsibilities include leading a team of 20 in the achievement of Local Revenue goals. This person will be responsible for developing, recruiting, and retaining highly successful sales talent. Qualified candidates must have excellent coaching skills, be a strategic thinker, and have a strong business acumen. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to help our local team and clients navigate a complex advertising and media consumption environment.

As the Director of Local Sales, you will:

Work closely with the Director of Sales on determining and implementing sales strategy resulting in achievement of revenue budgets.

Effectively lead and oversee the local team, including managing a group of local sellers.
Lead local Enterprise efforts from strategy to execution including defining, tracking and enforcement.

Maintain a positive and productive culture that fosters teamwork, innovation, and measurable success for clients.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key local clients and agencies at all levels.

Maximize 3rd party vendors and partners in achievement of revenue goals.

Provide hands on leadership by managing growth of your team, peers, clients and provide insights to all professional levels of the organization.

Assess local sales team in different situations; provide timely/relevant coaching and conduct/recommend appropriate training; lead by example.

Achieve local sales operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to overall strategic plan by monitoring competitive products and feedback from the market.

Problem-solve and communicate effectively both internally across departments and externally.

Accurately identify, monitor, and forecast local sales and marketing trends for key business segments.

Recruit, develop, retain, and supervise an elite, highly performing sales team.



Five or more years of proven successful sales management with knowledge of all facets of TV broadcast and digital sales and marketing.

Experience as a Local Sales Manager or similar leadership role.

Ability to effectively manage a large staff with various skill sets.

Ability to think and lead strategically, a proven problem solver and thought leader.

Must be able to work under pressure with changing priorities and goals.

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
